The use of amines as curing agents to cure epoxies necessitates aliphatic amines epoxies. Aliphatic amines associated to amino groups bound to hydrocarbon chains will react with epoxy resins at ambient temperature. Such rapid action is beneficial in construction activities taking place onsite or in rapid prototyping thus making these amines ideal for fast curing applications. Aliphatic amines modified epoxies provide them with good mechanical strength and chemical resistance. However, unlike other curing agents, amines epoxies have poorer resistance to heat and weather. Various aliphatic amines used leads to different epoxy properties which allows customizing the epoxy for various applications such as strength, flexibility, and cure time.
