When a substrate needs surface preparation to be topcoated, an epoxy filler is first applied, followed an epoxy primer. As a strategic step in this process, filling epoxy’s surface gaps and smoothing out its cracks and pores using filler material is critical. The filler material needs to be dried post which epoxy primer is to be used. Epoxy primer is known to penetrate and strongly adhere to both the filler and the substrate. This primer provides a strong uniform base layer which enhances the adhesion of any subsequent topcoats and ensures a uniform durable smooth finish. In addition to these functions, epoxy primers serve the additional purpose of safeguarding against corrosion, further improving the protection of the coating, and enhancing the value of epoxy fillers used for high-quality surface finishes while surface refinishing vehicles and furniture.
