DMP 30, or 2,4,6 - tris(dimethylaminomethyl)phenol, is well recognized as an epoxy accelerator. It greatly facilitates the curing reaction of epoxy cis with some of the curing agents, especially amine-based ones. An example of such a region is the cold area where there are low temperatures and tight deadlines. Such regions would benefit from the use of DMP 30 where there are low temperatures and tight deadlines because of its efficiency at low temperatures. Productivity is achieved in such regions due to reduction in lowering the total time required for curing owing to catalyzed reactions. What is critical to note, however, is that there is need for stringent control of both the dosage and the temperature because of problems caused by low temperature such as premature gelation or reduced mechanical strength of the cured epoxy. DMP 30 has proven to be benficial by serving during many epoxy based processes and applications.
